As one of the leading New Testament scholars of our day, Dr. William Lane Craig is a prime candidate to speak on the evidence for the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For any quality discussion or debate on the resurrection of Christ, a scholar must account for three facts: 1) Jesus post-mortem appearances, 2) the discovery of his empty tomb, and 3) the very origin of the disciples belief in the resurrection. On each of these three points, Craig possesses a wealth of information that he freely shares with eloquent speech and clear arguments. From the apostles creed given to Paul, to the womens discovery of the tomb, Craig quickly lays down a formidable foundation for why Jesus resurrection is easily the best explanation for the evidence given. And, in case one still has doubts that there might not be a better explanation, Craig moves on to cover three other mainstream theories that have been put forth on the subject. For each one, he highlights the multiple flaws that keep these theories from holding any explanatory power over Christs resurrection. For instance, the hallucination theory, if mass hallucinations by varying groups of people at differing times were possible, it might be able to account for the post-mortem appearances and the origin of the disciples belief, but it does absolutely nothing for explaining away the discovery of the empty tomb. Craig does a superb job of covering all the angles in this lecture. For anyone interested in New Testament scholarship, this video is well worth your time. William Lane Craig is a Research Professor at Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, California. He has authored or edited over thirty books, including Assessing the New Testament Evidence for the Historicity of the Resurrection of Jesus; Will the Real Jesus Please Stand Up? (with John Dominic Crossan), Jesus' Resurrection: Fact or Figment? (with Gerd Ldemann), and his signature book Reasonable Faith, as well as numerous articles in professional journals such as New Testament Studies, Journal for the Study of the New Testament, Expository Times, and Kerygma und Dogma.
